Over the last few months, our team has been focusing on getting involved with our local communities and giving something back. At Arc, we feel that it is important to get to know others in our community as well as contribute to important projects and gain new skills. Our experience so far has been very positive, and we can’t wait to continue our work within the community.

We’ve been lucky enough to have been invited to various careers fayres and different schools. Our team have enjoyed attending these events, talking to young individuals about the various careers and opportunities that are available in the hospitality industry. This was also a great opportunity for us to recruit motivated individuals to join our expanding team.

Our Liverpool and Manchester teams have also started volunteering with the Trussell Trust charity. The Trussell Trust charity are an organisation who co-ordinate a group of foodbanks across the UK. We chose to volunteer at foodbanks, after looking into different ways that we could get involved with our local community. Our company values, “We’re honest, we care, we deliver”, also had an influence of the decision to start volunteering because we care about the community and wanted to reach out to those who may be in need.  A typical volunteering session involves; weighing food donations, separating food into relevant category (e.g. beans, cereal, pasta, spreads etc), date checking the food and then storing the food correctly again so that it can be distributed to families in need. Our team have really enjoyed volunteering and now continue to take part, on a regular basis.

Alongside this, our team have also arranged a charity walk up Mount Snowdon. Snowdon is the highest mountain in Wales and 1085 metres high in total (we’re thinking of the views at the top to get us through the walk!!). We are hoping to raise £2,000 in aid of Cancer Research UK and The Trussell Trust group, because we would like to continue our on-going support for the Trussell Trust charity. We also chose Cancer Research UK because a lot of us have been affected by cancer and we would like to help fund much needed further research into cancer.
