Our Back of House roles vary from venue to venue. Our most common roles are: 


Kitchen Porters: Many people believe that the key to excellent front of house service is having an extremely organised back of house operation. Kitchen Porters, although back of house and unseen by the customer, need to possess initiative and a degree of independence. Kitchen porters typically answer to the head chef and help keep the kitchen tidy, clean and up to standards. They can help prep for service, monitor the dishwasher, make sure the cutlery is clean and sparkling.


Chefs and Kitchen assistants: “Don’t forget clean whites and sharp knives”, is the usual line our chefs hear shortly before their assignment. Our chefs can be placed with either large brigades in nationally recognised restaurants, corporate dining, contract catering, match day hospitality on a permanent or temporary basis. It is important that you have the right approach to teamwork. Whilst working as a Chef with Arc you might be working a barbecue one day then plating fine-dining desserts the next. We also offer upskilling opportunities and work with clients to help train chefs. 

Event porters/cellar attendants: Big events need people behind the scenes stocking the bar, helping change kegs and setting rooms up. These are often known as event porters and not only are these shifts fun, but they’re also a good workout and keep you on your toes.
